Petsense does however, promote animal adoption through local city and/or county shelters &a; rescues. Petsense offers quality pet products at competitive prices, made possible by purchasing directly from our vendor partners. We currently operate over 140 stores all across the country to make sure you can purchase quality products at an affordable price, from an employee with a smile on their face! The chain was founded by Jim Dougherty in 2005. Jim is no stranger to the pet retail industry, he is also the founder of PetSmart, which he began in 1986. The first Petsense store opened in October of 2005 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Petsense now operates stores in 24 states across the U.S!
