Wikipegio was birthed out of a need by a Nigerian, Eghe Nimose to have an online encyclopedia dedicated for music and related creatives releases. Musical artists, record labels and producers or just anyone can save of their song and album releases which can be referenced and link to existing record system such as Wikipedia, MusicBrainz and other online catalogs. Unlike the “authority” sources for articles required by Wikipedia, Wikipegio do not required such but a valid source such as digital store album url link and the cover art is needed for article approval. Creatives like musical artists and authors get to have their works promoted on social media and also added to Wikipegio playlists on various digital stores like iTunes, Spotify, AudioMack, BoomPlay, SoundCloud and Youtube. Wikipegio sources funding from donations and are used for maintaining the service and promoting of some releases on social media, specific playlists on digital stores.
