Angaza Boma is a solar technology company based in Kenya ,which brings solar powered TV systems to Kenya rural households without access to news, information, solar lighting and phone charging .Our Tv system enables customers to get real-time access to information ,access to clean solar lighting using the 2 solar bulbs that come with our system, enabling them unlimited access to communication by enabling them re-charge their mobile phones from the comfort of their house anytime,24 hours, thus displacing kerosene, petrol and diesel, improving indoor air quality and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Our mission is to contribute to green energy revolution in Kenya and the rest of East Africa by bringing to communities modern, clean energy solutions for home based lighting incorporating new technologies that improves peoples&s; standards of living, health, better the environment and eliminate energy poverty burden. At Angaza Bima,we are combating energy- poverty and climate change challenges. We are providing access to solar lights in some of the most remote regions of the rural off grid Kenya and building a movement to eradicate the kerosene lamp in Kenya. Without electricity families have no clean source of light, leaving millions to rely on expensive, unhealthy alternatives . Many use homemade kerosene lamps which are a poor source of light; they emit toxic black smoke, eat up to 15% of a family’s income and are are extremely hazardous. Our high quality 19 inch LED Digital solar powered Television system provides off-grid rural Tv lovers with unlimited entertainment as well access to news and education. Our mission is to contribute to green energy revolution in Kenya by bringing to communities modern, clean energy solutions for home based lighting incorporating new technologies that improves peoples&s; standards of living, health, better the environment and eliminate energy poverty burden. PROBLEM Lack of a reliable power supply is a major impediment to development in rural areas in Kenya where over 75% are not served by grid electricity. Economic growth and the reduction of poverty are difficult or impossible without the enabling power of electricity in all sectors of village life. Conventional sources of electricity as delivered through the national grid are prohibitively expensive and will not reach most rural areas for years or decades. Solar generated electricity through distribution of solar powered lamps is a cost effective, reliable alternative that is available now. For decades, access to news, information, entertainment and clean in-house lighting has been only for the urban and few rural rich who can access grid power. These has since locked out rural households who are forced to rely only on portable radio for news and information and kerosine lanterns and candles for lighting.Shockingly, only 31% of Kenyan have access to Tv leaving a whopping 69% out in the dark, despite the current influx of educative digital content available. By providing a 19" LED solar powered Tv system that provides 4 benefits inclusively ,100% powered by the Sun,we focus on opening 69% to the World .In Kenya, over 75% of the population have no access to power, only 39% of the population have access to news, information, entertainment via Tv most of whom are based in urban areas due to being able to access grid power .With our solar powered Tv system ,the demand stands at approximately 3M rural customers in Kenya and over 15M across East Africa. We are the first company in Kenya to offer a high quality solar powered TV system targeting rural off-grid regions of the country. We are hence unlocking the burden of lack of power, solar lighting, entertament and access to news, information and educations most rural households.
