Sakai is a community comprised of individuals and institutions that works to enhance technology-based teaching, learning, collaboration and research using its free and open source software suite and project. Its member organizations include large universities and small colleges, K-12 systems, hospitals, government organizations, research societies, and political parties. Its adopters participate in the Apereo Foundation’s Regional Communities and Communities of Interest to facilitate collaboration within geographic and professional interest areas. Sakai’s learning, teaching and collaboration tools can be used in courses, individual and group studies, research activities, collaborative projects, and processes. Sakai is available in over 20 languages such as English, Chinese, German, Korean, Spanish, Malay, Russian, French, and more. Sakai’s operations are based in Michigan, United States.
