POIdo is a location-based advertising (LBA) platform providing ads targeted using users’ precise location, context and behavior in applications on mobile phones, portable navigation systems and internet sites. The user sees the ad message within the application in use when approaching a virtual billboard or as a result of searching for a nearby address. Advertisers compete for ad lots, since a user sees only the most efficient ads on a given field. Auctions and ad-base updates for online sites take place online, while the updates for offline devices happen during map updates. POIdo provides API for both advertisers and publishers, allowing development of innovative applications with location-aware monetization/advertising built in. The POIdo ad system was launched in March 2010; service is offered to local businesses and entrepreneurs in and around Moscow. POIdo is planning to launch in the US later in 2010.
