Mawon is a movement to promote Mobility, Diversity, Connections, and Integration, and acts in a way to spread the culture of each migrant in the host society through an articulation based on cultural events and capacities. Mawon has the proposal to spread and connect the cultures of diasporas present in Brazil (the Caribbean, Arab countries, Africa and Europe) through education and culture. Strengthen the micro-entrepreneurial initiatives of vulnerable migrants and create spaces of economic sustainability for the migrants themselves in the Carioca scenario, where domestic and foreign tourists open up to the world and their cultural diversity, a way of Seeing City (to see the city in its cultural diversity). Mawon took shape in 2017 from the need to broaden the approach of action for vulnerable migrants. Alongside the large and traditional actors of the National Migration Network such as Caritas, UNHCR, IOM, and Catholic missions, Mawon seeks to defend the concept of a blurred border (burry) by extending the concept of migration that brings definitions of migrants and refugees closer together.
