Karakoram is a developmental innovation consultancy and developmental for-profit/for-good venture accelerator that applies entrepreneurial thinking, strategy, design, and engineering to create breakthrough solutions for the world&s;s toughest humanitarian challenges. We partner closely with our clients to make a future inclusive of people, planet and profit. We do this through a deep focus on empathy, optimism, and applying creativity as a complement to analytical reasoning. This focus enables us to work through ambiguity with confidence—designing and enabling new products, services, experiences, and new ventures that not only solve people’s unmet needs but also enable our clients to adopt new mindsets, capabilities and ways of working. Incorporated in 2019, Karakoram has focused on de-risking developmental ventures by injecting the same type of product/venture mentality and rapid experimental engineering used by top Silicon Valley accelerators and product shops. We have built high-impact projects across three continents, ranging from adapting Google Venture Sprints for developmental challenges to demonstrating how rapid prototyping of software, hardware, and IoT can de-risk ambitious projects for our clients and partners. Karakoram is the proud recipient of the 2020 UNDP &s;Global Innovator Award&s; and aspires to reimagine and drive a paradigm shift for the future of private consultancy/intergovernmental partnerships, using the current relationship between NASA and its private sector partners as a template for getting things done.
