While the new economy relies more heavily on logistics, the model doesn’t work in rural areas. For instance, 1 million people in Scotland experience delivery surcharges - that accounted for £45M last year - or can’t access delivery at all: it’s 1/5 of the population! And the problem is global because traditional logistics require volume and population density. IONA is a new kind of local logistics provider that mainly benefits rural areas.
