Humanitas is a highly specialised hospital, research and teaching center. It is accredited by the National Health-Care System. Built around centers for the prevention and treatment of cancer, cardiovascular, neurological and orthopedic disease – together with an Ophthalmic Center and a Fertility Center – Humanitas also operates a highly specialised Emergency Department. Humanitas is also equipped with an EOS, a newly-designed imaging system for 3D reconstruction with a sharply reduced X-ray exposure dose. This is why it was the first general hospital in Italy, and one of the few in Europe, to be certificated for quality by Joint Commission International (2002, 2006, 2009 and 2012).
