Initiated by the City of Poughkeepsie Partnership, Inc., Hudson Valley Foodworks (HVF) consists of a USDA/FDA approved facility created for the production of specialty foods. HVF, which is a cooperative effort of the Partnership, Cornell University&s;s Cooperative Extension and the Dutchess County Planning and Development Department with assistance from the Culinary Institute of America, is located in a former 40,000 square foot Woolworth&s;s retail operation in downtown Poughkeepsie. The facility officially opened in February of 1998. The goals for the HVF, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, are to stimulate the creation and expansion of specialty foods, agriculture and related businesses, generate new jobs, and create a new, long-term activity to promote the revitalization of downtown Poughkeepsie.
