HELVITEK LABS is a Lausanne-based start-up founded in 2019 by Théo-Tim Denisart, a graduate of the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) and Roberto Costa, former marketing director at Swatch. The wish to create a new generation of urban anti-pollution masks came after experiencing numerous trips to China where the two partners came face to face with the deadly issue of fine particle pollution. The firm very rapidly received encouragement and support at the Start Lausanne contest, 8th Edition, which was followed by a YGrant from the EPFL, then a Digital Grant from the FIT (Vaud Foundation for Technological Innovation). These awards allowed the partners to rapidly achieve the credibility needed to launch the venture and obtain the funds to set up in the EPFL Innovation Park and assemble a team. The company was officially incorporated as a Société Anonyme (public limited company) in March 2020.
