The app warns the potential victim and the corresponding law enforcement organizations about the physical proximity of an aggressor who has been ordered to stay away. The system is conceptualized as a geopositional-radio frequency identifier (GPS-RFID) enabled cellular system for the aggressor’s proximity notification. GuardDV iteratively searches for a specific RFID tag at a certain range. If the device recognizes the RFID tag: 1) it notifies the possible victim of the proximity of the aggressor 2) it reminds the aggressor of the consequences of breaking a restraining order and provides advice about alternate courses of action, i.e. seek counseling 3) it automatically places a phone call to 911, the hotline in charge of assigning emergency tasks to police officers throughout the United States. The device plays a pre-recorded message to the 911 operator indicating the name of the offender/suspect and the name of the potential victim along with information of an approximate location. The enhanced-911 system can then track the location of the victim and the operator directs officers to that location. The system is on its second iteration for an optimized prototype. A pilot test is being coordinated with state agencies.
