Customers who need services can create a project and service providers, called Genies, then respond directly and tailor their offer based on the opportunity. Service Providers/Genies also rank each other based on experience. Founded by a group of Stanford entrepreneurs in late 2006, GenieTown is funded by angel investors and is located in Palo Alto, CA. Genietown closed its doors in 2008 and the company no longer exists.
