Envic-Sense has developed a measuring instrument that enables on-site measurement of the presence of extremely small levels of heavy metals in both water and soil. Envic-Sense&s;s measuring instrument is based on QCM technology, Quartz Crystal Microbalance. The technology generally means that you accurately measure the frequency of a quarter-crystal / chip. By coating the crystal in different ways, different substances can be selectively adhered to the surface of the crystal and thus have a change in the crystal&s;s frequency. The technique makes it possible to measure very low levels of substances in real time and it is also possible to follow the chemical process&s;s kinetics. Though non-heat-resistant substances can be studied as QCM technology does not require heating. QCM technology has been an established technology in biomedicine for 35 years. Through our concept of interchangeable measuring cells, we have made it possible to use this technology also in the environmental field. Measuring cells are currently available for mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead and TNT (explosive). The number of subjects will be gradually expanded. All chemistry is assembled into a measuring cell. When the measuring cell is consumed, it switches to a new one. (usually after ten tests). The consumed measurement cell is recycled in the source sorting. Different measuring cells are used for detection of different substances. The replaceable measuring cell contains a recycled flow that allows for extra high sensitivity.
