We are the creators, co-stewards, and one of the primary developers of CKAN - the world-leading open source application for open data portals, DataHub.io - a tool for transforming our ability to create and use quality data that provides various solutions to publish and deploy data with power and simplicity, and FrictionlessData.io - an approach to data interoperability via lightweight specifications and software. For over a decade we’ve been creating tools and applications for data. We built CKAN, the world’s leading data portal platform and the world’s first portals for publishing open data such as data.gov and data.gov.uk. We’ve worked for companies and organizations like Google and have successfully deployed dozens of projects for government, Fortune 500 enterprises and international NGOs. We’ve helped create the open data movement from the ground up. At Datopian, we&s;re committed to a digital economy that empowers everyone. Our approach to designing solutions with our clients, and our approach to working with data in general, is informed by this commitment. Put simply, we’re passionate about data. Passionate about its power to help us understand and shape our organisations and societies. We want to democratise that power by giving more people and organisations access to high quality data and tooling. Viderum was founded in October 2015 and renamed to Datopian in March 2019. However Viderum remains the legal entity and name. The name Datopian reflects our desire to see data used to unlock value in organisations and society – and to democratise data-driven insight and its impact. With our new management team in place, and a new set of offerings coming to complement our existing CKAN services, it felt like the right time to make this change. Our mission is to see data enable and empower individuals and organisations.
