Cape Fisheries Ltd is focused on small-scale traditional line-fishing operations in the Western Cape region of South Africa. Traditional line-fishing is one of the oldest fishing practices and involves each fisher using a short length of line containing a maximum of 10 baited hooks. In the majority of cases the fishers use less than 5 hooks due to the size and power of each individual fish. The number of vessels and crew members in the traditional line-fishing sector is capped by the Fisheries Department thereby protecting fish stocks and ensuring sustainability in the sector.
