Mid 2003, John Blydenstein and Hans Vanoorbeek have left their respective large European private equity funds in London to return to their home-countries to start investing their private capital in small &a; medium sized companies in the Benelux under the name BV Capital Partners. John Blydenstein has been one of the three founding partners of West Private Equity in London (€ 400m pan-European mid market private equity fund, now called Lyceum Capital). Hans Vanoorbeek has been a partner at BC Partners in London (€ 4.3bn pan-European large cap private equity fund). From 1995 until 1999, based in London, Hans and John have jointly built up Industri Kapital (€ 750 m pan-European mid market private equity fund, now called IK Investment Partners) in the Benelux.
