Large wind turbines have blades 100m+ long that create massive forces, and the industry is aiming to expand turbine sizes. Brayfoil’s patented morphing wing technology, born from biomimicry of birds’ wings in flight, has created a wing that can change shape in a simple and commercially viable and effective way. This technology can easily be built into large wind turbine blades to allow them to change shape and reduce excess loads, creating larger, more efficient, more reliable and cheaper-per-MW devices. We are at TRL 4, with our first pilot turbine going on-site with a university partner at the end of 2022.
