Brave is a technology co-op on a mission to end overdose fatalities. We make overdose detection tools that identify overdoses and activate life-saving community response. Our tools have been used more than 10,000 times and saved more than 100 lives to date. We co-design our products with people who use drugs so that overdose detection and response are accessible to everyone, especially those most at risk. Public health and housing groups, supportive housing buildings, acute and community care centers, civic spaces, and businesses license Brave technology to prevent fatal overdoses in their communities. The broad problem we are solving is the fact that if someone uses drugs alone, they will die if they overdose. That&s;s a preventable death, a reversible situation, if someone gets there in time. One of the reasons why this problem is not being solved and the burden falls on us is because people confuse the problem of overdose death with something else: they think the problem is drug use in general, so they increase funding to law enforcement, or they think it&s;s substance use disorder, so they focus on recovery tools, or, worst of all, they think that drug users don&s;t warrant our support or efforts, so they only focus on educating children to stay away from drugs. But the problem is that people are dying preventable deaths. And all we need to do is look at those deaths closely
