Ovulation microscopes have been in use for saliva testing for decades. FDA approved the analogue "saliva ovulation test" for ovulation prediction in 2004. For women, estrogen and salt levels increase in saliva during the most fertile days and form fern-shaped patterns. Babyndex is the first mobile application that has a cloud based computer vision algorithm that automatically recognizes these fern-shaped saliva crystals. In 2022, patented in the USA. They cannot use common fertility trackers (LH, BBT, heart-beat, etc.), which collect 3 months data and rely on a predictive algorithm because their cycles are unstable and no prediction is reliable enough. However, they can rely on the actual structural changes of saliva and cervical mucus a few days before ovulation because they show when the body starts to prepare for it.
