Adenosine Therapeutics (ATL), located in Charlottesville, VA, is a drug discovery and development company that was co-founded in 1999 by University of Virginia (UVa) Professor Joel Linden and entrepreneur Robert Capon (one of three cofounders of Virologic, NASDAQ: VLGC.) Through an in-license agreement with the University of Virginia Patent Foundation, ATL was granted exclusive, worldwide rights to the University&s;s adenosine-related patent portfolio, including apadenoson, developed as Stedivaze, a cardiac stress agent for use in diagnosis of coronary artery disease. Stedivaze was shepherded by ATL to the end of Phase II development before ATL sold substantially all its assets to Clinical Data, Inc. (CLDA) in 2008. CLDA and its successors carried on development into late Phase III.
